A few things to know.

  • A Windows x64 computer and a working microphone. This early release has not yet been validated across every OS version and hardware configuration; model performance depends on your computer.
  • Internet for model setup: up to 1.14 GB of model downloads, plus space for the app and your notes.
  • Local processing after setup. No account, API key, or separate AI server required.
  • Compatible NVIDIA GPUs can accelerate speech recognition. CPU fallback is included; speed depends on your hardware.

From download to first dictation.

  1. Install either the EXE or MSI, then open Scribulate.
  2. In Settings, choose your microphone and select Install / verify models.
  3. Focus your writing app. Hold Ctrl + Win, speak, then release.
  4. Keep the app focused while Scribulate processes your words. Review the text; if automatic paste does not work, paste from the clipboard.

Already using Scribulate? Quit the app before a manual upgrade and use the same installer format. Keep a backup of your local notes. In-app update checks are also available in recent versions.
